The relationship with our self is the most extensive and sustained of our life time.

Informed by object relations theory, it is my belief that people have both internal and external relationships with the world in which they operate.

An internal relationship you say? Possibly.

A world that includes a relationship with an image of self and others. A mental representation informed by how others become part of self. This may be a fantasy, a fear or a desire which often includes the image of self an other.

There are times when these worlds become troubled, problematic and stressful. Working therapeutically, may involve thinking about difficulties and problems represented internally. The hope would be to achieve understanding and the potential for emotional balance; an important part of maintaining healthy relationships with self and others.
